Teach and develop American Sign Language and related courses both in-class and online.
Provide leadership over the development of ASL curriculum/programs.
Provide leadership over the TTU Sign Language club.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in American Sign Language or related field, or Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution plus 18 graduate semester hours in American Sign Language or related field.
Experience teaching American Sign Language classes at the college/university level.
Certification from ASLTA or other acceptable certifying body (e.
g.
, RID, NIC, CDI, CI/CT, AVLIC, etc.
) or commitment to pursue certification.
Fluency in ASL.
Knowledge and skills in ASL pedagogy and content development.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of two years of successful experience teaching American Sign Language classes at the college/university level.
Experience teaching online courses.
Experience working collaboratively with the Deaf community.
Experience working with student organizations supporting the deaf community.
Experience using online Learning Management Systems (Brightspace).
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
Full-time, nine month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 2024.
Three year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance review.
