-Teach undergraduate studio courses that may include all levels from introductory, advanced levels, and senior thesis in the BFA design (digital media) curriculum.
-Facilitate experiential student learning beyond the classroom, e.
g.
supervising senior thesis projects, practicum, etc.
-Provide management and oversight of the School of Art, Craft & Design’s digital studios.
-Collaborate and contribute to curriculum development for the BFA design (digital media) concentration, -Demonstrate an active commitment to the continued growth and development of the program and community.
-Engage in service activities at the departmental, college, and university level.
-Maintain a studio practice of recognized quality.
-Meet the teaching, research, and service expectations of the department and university.
-Contribute to a rigorous learning environment with a willingness to use traditional, alternative, and digital delivery methods.
-Mentor students within the major.
-Teach foundations, art appreciation, and seminar courses, if needed.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications -Candidates should have a terminal graphic design degree: MFA, MGD, or MDes with a design emphasis or equivalent.
-Demonstrated record of professional experience in digital arts, graphic design, or related field as witnessed in client history, publication record, exhibition practice, studio practice, or a combination thereof.
-Demonstrated ability to teach Design (digital media) courses at the university level.
-Mastery of appropriate industry standard art and design software.
-Proficiency in teaching industry-standard art and design software.
-Demonstrated ability to teach across the curriculum from introductory, intermediate, and advanced level courses.
Preferred Qualifications -Demonstrated ability to teach additional courses dependent on area(s) of specialization, such as foundations or Art Appreciation.
-Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies, new software skills, and techniques to integrate into the design curriculum.
Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and identifying connections between design and craft studios.
-Demonstrated commitment to professional experience in design practice.
-Demonstrated experience with innovative teaching methodologies incorporating technology into teaching and learning, and experience teaching diverse student populations in a rural setting.
Compensation and Benefits Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 2024.
