Job Title: Family Counselor Classification: Part-time - this is a home based position.
Job Summary: Responsible for providing a continuum of ASAP|GSAP services to children and families including prevention, education, support linkage, and individual and family counseling.
Additional responsibilities include the facilitation and delivery of group and individual Adoption & Guardianship Preparation Training (AGPT) and assisting with the preparation and delivery of regional FUSE groups.
Accountabilities: • Reports to Program Manager • Responsible for maintaining DCS programming compliance with expectations outlined in the state contract(s), and with the auditing arm of Finance and Administration and with COA standards.
Essential Functions: Prevention, Parent Education and Training: • Deliver group Adoption & Guardianship Preparation Training • Deliver individual Adoption & Guardianship Preparation Training as needed to include, scheduling and facilitating sessions with the referred family • Secure Adoption & Guardianship Preparation training locations as needed, develop training schedules, contact and register referred families for AGPT, facilitate outreach efforts with potential attendees and stakeholders, secure and provide snacks and water for AGPT classes, and document direct and related training activities • Educate families on current clinical insights into parenting and adoption/guardianship issues • Attend and facilitate activities at a minimum of (1) one regional FUSE parent support group for adults and children per month • Send out region specific FUSE group invites, maintain RSVP list of expected attendees, and coordinate the purchase of food for FUSE group meals.
\*These tasks may vary by region and will be determined based on need and at the direction of the Program Manager • Serve at and support ASAP|GSAP family camp offerings held at Montvale as needed or requested by the Program Manager.
This may include, but is not limited to, the following: leading parent and/or kid groups, active participation and support of camp activities, contributing to camp structure and design, referring families, completing intake paperwork for prospective camp attendees, and contributing to clinical service provision.
Clinical Case Management and Stabilization: • Participate in all community meetings that are pertinent to the clients and families being served, e.

M-Team, IEP, court hearings, etc.
• Provide case management services to clients by providing referrals to community resources, advocacy for children & families, and assessment of family strengths, needs, and risk factors • Identify additional sources of assistance or connections for the individual/family and make appropriate referrals • Attend CFTMs, and maintain regular communication with DCS personnel as appropriate Family and Individual Counseling • Clinically assess needs of the child and family • Provide and coordinate crisis and non-crisis intervention services to families by, among other things, contacting the family by telephone within 24 hours of being assigned a new case and scheduling an in-home visit at the earliest convenience for the family • Provide individual and family counseling in the client’s home and/or another appropriate and mutually agreed upon location.
• Utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment models/ approaches that are relevant and appropriate for work with families Administrative and Other Functions: • Responsible for the timely submission of documentation into the ASAP Online database within operational guidelines • Assist in the marketing of the ASAP|GSAP program through participation in presentations, trainings, meetings, or providing case consultation to DCS • Participate in Harmony staff meetings as requested and sponsored trainings supporting compliance with COA standards and professional best practices • Engage in individual and group professional development activities • Adhere to Harmony policy regarding ethical and professional codes of conduct • Engage with and work cooperatively with fellow team members • Regular and ongoing participation in various conference calls • Other job responsibilities as assigned by Program Manager or negotiated to meet the needs of the agency Other Agency Related Tasks (Harmony Specific) • Assists with special events and projects as needed • Serves at (1) one Harmony event during the course of the year that are not already an expectation contained in this job description – service may include but is not limited to Mudder’s Day Mud Run, Pickleball, a Harmony marketing event/fair in the community, open houses or other related Harmony and Montvale outreach activities Job Specifications: • Master’s Degree in Mental Health (MHC), Professional Counseling (PC), Social Work (MSSW), or equivalent • Two years of direct clinical experience with families and children in individual and group settings • Ability to clinically assess child and family needs, develop clinical treatment plan, provide crisis management, and resource linkage as needed • Ability to appropriately and actively engage with the Program Manager in individual and group clinical supervision and case consultation as needed • Ability to work independently as well as with a team • Flexible expectations specific to coverage area, caseload, etc.

• Ability and willingness to continue growth and education as well as acquire practice skills in themes pertinent to working with adoptive and guardianship families • Commitment to building positive working relationships with DCS and community stakeholders within designated service area • Ability to contribute to discussion in team meetings as appropriate • Ability to speak comfortably and confidently before small and large groups • Experience working with individual clients as well as the family system • Excellent communication skills and the ability to create rapport • Ability to use creative thinking and problem solving skills • Ability to multi-task and work independently • Ability to use basic computer programs, including Word, Excel, and Google Docs and navigate ASAP Online database to document clinical and other activities in a timely manner • Willingness to travel to client homes and training locations as well as occasional travel to the Harmony office or another designated location for team wide in-service meetings, All Staff gatherings, retreats, etc.
• Position is based from employee’s home • Position is a maximum of 29.
5 hours per week; no minimum number of hours are guaranteed per week • Position is Sunday to Saturday and flexible scheduling is required • Position requires afternoon and evening work; occasional weekend work may be required • Must clear all Harmony required pre-employment background checks.
